Donations
We greatly appreciate donations.

June 2009, Donation from Kym Wilson
Thank you so much for your donation of a window to the woodcraft workshop at Maisie Kaufmann Learning Centre at Alice Street.  It has made a huge difference to all staff, volunteers and students working in this workshop.  It has provided much needed light and ventilation.

The woodcraft literacy classes are achieving remarkable results.  Items being produced include laundry trolleys, tables, benches, pot plant stands and numerous small items.  The trainers are very impressed by the work ethic and the dedication of all students and volunteers in these classes.  Please feel free to visit our workshop at 533 Alice Street, Maryborough on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday.  You will always be welcome.

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of people with a disability.

June 2009, Donation from Wade Sawmill
Thank you most sincerely for your donation of timber to the woodcraft class at the Maisie Kaufmann Learning Centre.  To date we have used the timber to build washing trolleys, tables, work benches and numerous small wooden items.

It is wonderful to see the changes in these men as they learn new skills in woodcraft.  It has been a slow process, but we are now starting to attract more young men into the classes who used to attend the Special Schools in Maryborough and Hervey Bay.   Two young men travel up daily from Hervey Bay to the classes and love every minute of their learning.
Thank you for making a difference in the lives of people with a disability.

December 2008, Donation from Antique Car Club

On behalf of the students, volunteers, Board of Management and staff at the Maisie Kaufmann Learning Centre, thank you so much for your $500.00 donation. This donation will go towards the equipment needed to provide hands on training for adults with a disability.

In 2009 we are opening a café at our training centre, 60 John Street, which will provide people with a disability the opportunity to learn skills needed in a café. This in turn will enable them to gain worthwhile employment in the hospitality area with on-going support from our centre..

September 2008, Donation from John Perrin Painting Services

Thank you so much to John Perrin Painting Services for your donation towards programs for adults with a disability working at the Maisie Kaufmann Learning Centre. The centre is now providing support to adults with a disability in the areas of health, fitness and wellbeing, carpentry, computers, Aboriginal art, crafts, general art and literacy. We are very grateful to support we have received from the community as well as from Coles, Fosters and the Regional Art Development Fund.

August 2008. Major donation by Community Employment Options:

Thank you so much to Jeff McPhee, Manager of Community Employment Options for your valuable donation to the Maisie Kaufmann Learning Centre. We have placed the furniture in our new premises at 533 Alice Street and it looks wonderful. The lounge chairs are so nice and will be fully utilised in our interview room. The other furniture will be such an asset in all our training activities.

Because of your kind donation we have been able to purchase other valuable equipment which we would have been unable to obtain otherwise. We are very excited about our new training premises. We will be training in the areas of Certificate III in Aged, Disability and Home and Community Care. In this same building we will be teaching literacy through the training of wood craft. The students will be hand making wooden pot plant stands, utility tables and the such. We would always welcome a visit from you to view this training.

Hyne & Sons - Tuan Mill - Timber Donation

The Maisie Kaufmann Learning Centre would like to thank you for your valuable donation of a timber supply for our wood-working classes. The classes are for people with varying disabilities, who to date, thanks to the timber donation, have been learning how to make tool boxes, plant stands, work benches and shelving.

The type of experience we are able to offer with the wood-working classes is invaluable to people with varying disabilities. Providing new and interesting activities improves skills and also the client’s potential in the possibility of creating an income outside of mainstream employment. For the most part, mainstream employment is unavailable to these participants. Building of skills and abilities engenders confidence, which carries over into the client’s interactions while negotiating life in the wider community. The over-all and long term benefits of these implications cannot be overstated!
